Lukas Graham's frontman, Lukas Forchhammer screaming , talks about growing up in Copenhagen's anarchist Christiania neighborhood and why he wrote "7 Years. Frontman Lukas Forchhammer grew up in a small, rough Copenhagen neighborhood called Christiania that was founded by anarchist squatters and boasts a population, he estimates, of around people. I feel I owe it to them to keep going and just fucking beat this. How would you describe Christiania, where you grew up? Everybody knows everybody. Everybody helps everybody. Is it a rough neighborhood? It is, in the sense that police come in, in riot gear, and shoot tear gas all over the place.

Lukas Graham is a Danish pop band. It consists of lead vocalist Lukas Forchhammer ,  and drummer Mark Falgren. The self-titled international debut album was officially released in the United States by Warner Bros. Records on 1 April The band formed in Denmark in and initially uploaded homemade videos of the songs " Drunk in the Morning " and "Criminal Mind". Prior to officially releasing any music, the band had sold 17, tickets for an upcoming tour. Their first release, available only in Europe and selected other nations,  became certified five-times platinum in Denmark. In , the band continued to tour throughout Europe. In the fall of , the band signed to Warner Bros.
One of the hardest lessons for any new pop star is learning when to say "no. But Forchhammer's smile turns to a scowl when it's suggested he wear something more stylish than a plain white T-shirt for a photo shoot afterward. Too many people don't have big enough balls or ovaries to be themselves. Will I have a lot of children who can warm me? It already has hit No. Now I Skype with him once in a while. A lot of my friends aren't God's best children, you could say. They grew up selling drugs, carrying guns, having bulletproof vests but they are quite endearing, really. Forchhammer was born to a Danish mother and an Irish father and raised in Christiania, a self-governed district in the middle of Copenhagen. Comprising a former army base abandoned in , it's essentially a neighborhood-size squat and is now seen as a modern hippie utopia.
