Unusual accommodation
There are centres all over Scotland which allow you to rent the equipment needed. Here are some of the best places to get stuck into SUP - or to try it out for the first time. Harbours like Findochty are nice and sheltered and, for the more adventurous, you can enjoy the waves at Lossiemouth. You can hire equipment and book lessons through Suds Surf School. The gentle waters of The Tay near Aberfeldy make for popular SUP locations, and there are plenty of options to hire gear nearby as well as guided lessons for absolute beginners. Perthshire is one of the most varied paddleboarding locations, too.
EQUIPMENT HIRE
If you can stand on one foot, you CAN do yoga on the water. Around the world there is a growing demand for outdoor fitness, working out in nature in the fresh air. We spend so much of our lives indoors either stuck at a desk at work or home, the thought of being in the confines of the gym is pretty depressing. This can depend on the activity and the time of year.
The classes will take place in the heart of the city centre and require no prior experience. Health and wellness enthusiasts are being urged to register their interest for the dynamic new yoga classes, which promise to enhance core strength and improve flexibility. No prior experience of yoga or paddle boarding is required — everyone is welcome, from novice paddlers to experienced yogis. All equipment, including paddle boards and wet suits, will be provided. SUP yoga involves getting into various positions on top of a paddle board. During the class, which will last approximately 60 minutes, participants will be guided through a series of postures asanas which have been designed to build strength, flexibility and balance while encouraging a calm state of mind.
