Tuning In. It connects us to the infinite Creative Consciousness, and to the Golden Chain of masters who have kept this yoga technology alive, the most recent of whom is the Master of Kundalini Yoga and White Tantric, Yogi Bhajan. Chanting this provides us with focus and a protective vibration for the practice we are about to undertake.

TUNING IN AND OUT IN A KUNDALINI YOGA CLASS
Sit quietly and be with your breath. Consciously slow down the breath and breathe from the belly. Be with the sensations in your body. Tune into your own rhythm. Allow a few minutes to calm down, center yourself and create your own space. Before beginning Kundalini Yoga practice, always "tune in" by chanting the ADI MANTRA as follows: Sit in easy pose, or any meditation posture that you find most comfortable, with a straight spine and center yourself with long, deep breathing. The Ong is vibrated in the back of the throat, the cranium and nasal passages. Properly done, it stimulates the pituitary and pineal glands which automatically tunes us into higher consciousness. Ooooooong is long, o as in oh Na is short, Moooo o as in oh is extended.
Before Class and Before Chanting or Practicing Kundalini Yoga
There are specific mantras sacred words that we use to open and close this sacred space. I bow to the divine teacher within. Adi means primal or first. In Kundalini yoga, this is the first mantra we use to open the space before for any yogic or meditative practice. Ong is vibrated in the forehead and nasal passages to stimulate the pituitary and pineal glands, which automatically tunes us into higher consciousness. DEV is extended and chanted at a higher tone. NA is short.
I bow to the Divine Wisdom within myself. It has been taught that in the Age of Aquarius there would be so many spiritual seekers that there would not be enough gurus to instruct them in paths to enlightenment. We must hone our ability to hear the Guru Dev , the guru within our hearts. Our Guru Dev , or higher self, can be the source of all instruction and inspiration. It is a divine and cosmic teacher, which may act through a person or through you, and always uplifts and enhances your own Divinity. One of the translations of Dev is angelic, and we have a part of ourselves that is more angelic than human, which we must learn to hear. Meditation is vital because it allows us to learn to calm down the mind, which only chatters on drowning out the voice of our soul, which speaks in our heart. You cannot learn to meditate effectively without controlling your breath.
